Parents, Fellow educators, and Friends:
I have just discovered an awesome blog post that I think you might love. If you are an early childhood educator, parent of young children, or anyone who works with young kiddos, this could change your world for the better.
FLIP IT is a strategy used for dealing with the children who present challenging behavior. I.e. Refusing to work or throwing items. It presents four simple steps for helping children problem solve their behavior while maintaining positivity. It also provides tips that I found super helpful (what not to do, hat you sometimes find yourself doing).
Here's a little summary...
F: Feelings- state the child's feelings, show them you care
L: Limits- set and review expectations/limits, keep phrasing postivite
I: Inquires- start problem solving. Ask questions to help students think of solutions
P: Prompt- you can offer solutions to the child, but be enthusiastic so it is an opportunity for the child, not a chore!
That was the snapshot version. I highly suggest you check out the full blog & let me know what you think!! It will only take a few minutes of your time 😊

3-D Explorations
As you know, we have just completed our math chapter about 3-Dimensional shapes. Your children LOVED learning about them in class, but they also loved the opportunity we had last week for a mini field trip upstairs.
Our class had the opportunity to visit the high schoolers taking a class and designing 3-D objects. Once their designs were finished, they were able to print them and I don't mean on paper... I mean in a 3-D printer!
Your children got to watch and witness 3-Dimensional objects print before their very eyes and they were in awe!
Hopefully by next week, your kiddo might come home with a little gift of their own from the class as they offered to make us some little toys 😊
Until then, enjoy the photos of your little ones soaking up this awesome exploration here: https://www.icloud.com/sharedalbum/#B0O532ODWzhQtv.
Feel free to quiz them and see if they can name any 3-D objects in your home!
